The protected area is the demonstration garden of the Institute of Medicinal Plant Research, established in 1984.
In 1980, Swedish botanist Rolf Dahlgren published his new system of evolutionary history based on chemical relationships. The Demonstration Garden is a planar realization of a diagrammatic representation of the new chemotaxonomic system by planting alive plants. In the garden, a scientific evolutionary phylogenetic tree is in fact drawn out.
In 2003, on the initiative of Professor Szabolcs Nyiredy, the late President and Director of the Institute, the garden was placed under national protection by order of the Minister of the Environment and Water Management.

The botanical gardens are open to the public with a guided tour by prior appointment.
