  • Pál-völgyi Cave surface protection zone Nature Reserve

    The explorers, Kornél Pál Scholtz and János Bagyura, entered the cave on 23 June 1904 through the entrance from the Pál Valley quarry. Between 1904 and 1910, the first explorers uncovered about 1200 metres of the cave. The cave explorers' group of the Pannonia Tourist Association, formed in 1919, made the most beautiful part of the cave accessible to visitors.

  • Szemlő-hegyi Cave surface protection zone Nature Reserve

    In the fall of 1930, they came across the Szemlő-hegyi-cave while quarrying. The explorers Hubert Kessler, András Futó and Károly Sebős approached the passages by descending a steep tunnel. The known length of the cave today is 2.2 km.

  • Vácrátót Botanical Garden (MTA National Botanical Garden)

    Vácrátot is located in the NW part of the Veresegyházi Basin. This basin, formed at an altitude of 100-200 m above sea level, is one of the northern bays of the Great Plain. Its climate is warm, moderately continental. Being in the rain shadow of the Börzsöny and Pilis mountains, it is poor in precipitation.
