In 1853 Jókai Mór, who had a passion for gardening, bought the plot of land on the Sváb mountain including a quarry and a house. He planted diverse fruit trees, grapes and a lot more of different trees and plants. After the death of Jókai Mór the garden wasn’t in a good condition. So we started to plant diverse trees and plants again. Since 1975 the Jókai garden is a national protected area and the directorate of the Duna-Ipoly National Park is also here.
